The new EP ‘Kid Bird’ by the Amsterdam-based indie band of the same name feels like a spontaneous road trip through the countryside in a convertible. With a truly captivating guitar sound, the five tracks are instantly catchy and boast an incomparably good vintage feel that's immediately infectious.
Everywhere you listen, you get the feeling you're playing an old surf-rock cassette, which not only gives you an authentic psychedelic feeling but also revives a bit of the magic of the late 1960s.
I absolutely love the driving energy and wouldn't want to miss out on the timeless vintage spring reverb. The style also shines with remarkable virtuosity and a multitude of sophisticated riffs. The high precision and infectious energy bring a breath of fresh air to these warm summer days here in Berlin and, combined with the catchy melodies, create a remarkable intensity. On 'Kid Bird,' you'll find one catchy tune after another, while a certain euphoria fills the room. But dreamy and relaxing textures also come into focus, evoking a subtle melancholy.
What emerges is a work that radiates a strong, positive spirit, but also makes the floor shake at full volume. You ask me about my favorite track, and I'll say without a doubt 'Surf Song'—the riffs and textures simply give me incredibly strong Woodstock vibes, the kind I only know from Super 8 films! Die neue EP ‘Kid Bird’ der gleichnamigen, in Amsterdam beheimateten Indie-Band fühlt sich buchstäblich wie ein spontaner Trip im Kabrio durchs Land an. Mit einem wirklich fesselnden Gitarrensound gehen die insgesamt fünf Tracks auf direktem Wege ins Ohr und überzeugen mit einem unvergleichlich guten Vintage-Charakter, der unmittelbar ansteckend wirkt.
An sämtlichen Stellen kommt das Gefühl auf, man habe eine alte Surfrock-Kassette im Spieler, die einem nicht nur ein authentisches psychedelisches Gefühl vermittelt, sondern auch ein Stück weit die Magie der späten 1960er Jahre aufleben lässt.
Ich mag den kernigen Drive unglaublich gerne und möchte keinesfalls auf das zeitlose Vintage Spring Reverb verzichten. Auch glänzt der Stil mit einer beachtlichen Virtuosität und einer Vielzahl ausgefeilter Riffs. Die hohe Präzision und die mitreißende Energie sorgen für reichlich frischen Wind mitten in den warmen Sommertagen hier in Berlin und entfalten in Kombination mit den eingängigen Melodien eine beachtliche Intensität. Auf 'Kid Bird’ erwartet euch gefühlt ein Ohrwurm nach dem nächsten, während eine gewisse Euphorie den Raum erhellt. Aber auch träumerische und entspannende Texturen rücken in den Fokus und erwecken eine subtile Melancholie.
Zum Vorschein kommt ein Werk, das einen starken positiven Spirit nach außen strahlt, aber auch den Boden bei vollem Volumen zum Beben bringt. Ihr fragt mich nach meinem Lieblingstrack und ich sage ganz klar 'Surf Song’ - die Riffs und Texturen geben mir einfach verdammt starke Woodstock-Vibes, wie ich sie allerdings lediglich aus Super 8 Filmen kenne! Wenn euch die EP 'Kid Bird’ gefällt, lohnt es sich auf alle Fälle, auch mit weiteren Neuerscheinungen der Band auf Spotify up to date zu bleiben.
